Types of Basketball Drills

Basketball Drills
The game basketball has a long history and it has been invented around one hundred and fifty years back. It is that type of sport which is enjoyed by the old as well as by the young; this game requires skill and practice. Here are some tips to improve your basketball drills.

There are different types of basketball hoops available in the market, but you must choose the model which suits you the most. Some of the hoops bases are filled with water which enables them to move easily, and some hoops bases are filled with sand which makes it hard to move and are sturdier.

When you are only a starter then it is recommended to start from around three feet from the front of the rim. Get in to the position to shoot and shoot it off the glass then again try to rebound the ball and try to shoot from the other side. The main purpose behind this drill is to practice on getting up off the ground. One thing that is recommended by the experts is to make sure that your non shooting hand is also going up with the ball. Try to shoot 10-15 times from each side and also shoot foul shots while resting.

Another area that is important in the basketball drills are the post to post moves which is also known as power moves. In this type of drill you must be sitting down and getting low because you won’t be having time to get passes consistently id you are standing straight. And once you get the position of the ball than take a hard drop step towards the baseline. The main idea behind is to get the defender on your hips. This type of drill also needs a thorough practice in order to get good results in the game.

Quick jump shot is another important drill that must be learned in order to be successful in the game. This is done easily because what you have to do is that you will spin the ball and go to your spot and turn and shoot. Try this activity from the both sides until you are feeling comfortable or exhausted. Dribbling is the thing which must be practiced thoroughly because it is a way of keeping the possession of the ball. Dribbling drills require practice, control and speed. Some kinds of dribbling are behind the back, between the legs, inside out as well as two ball dribble.

There are drills of rebounding as well as blocking which must be practiced for at least five minutes each. Drill is the most important and needs to be practiced for 20-40 minutes as the basketball shooting drills. In this drill you should try all types of shots that may be, one hand shooting, jump shot, two dribble or 3 points shooting. If you want to be the best basketball player then you should try to practice the drills every day, it would not be possible for you to practice all the drills in one day, therefore you must make a schedule so that you can practice all the areas of the game in a week.
